I have sent out hundreds of resumes and received roughly five callbacks. I have a good enough resume that includes certain items that should alert those employers that I am a reasonable candidate for the job. However, the moment they see when I attended school, it is all over.
Is this age discrimination? I have no way to prove it, but in consideration of the number of applications that I have sent out to jobs that are appropriate for my experience, I believe that it is probable.
If you watch the congressman and the senators on television, you will see that they are our age and older. How can they remain in their jobs? Some of them have even run for office for the first time at an older age and succeeded in winning.
Let me know if any of you have experiences with what I believe to be age discrimination. Perhaps we can dos something about it!
